supergalybė statusas T sritis Politika apibrėžtis Labai galinga valstybė, kurios visi galios dėmenys – kariniai, ekonominiai, demografiniai, geografiniai – pranoksta kitų valstybių galimybes. Terminas pradėtas vartoti Šaltojo karo metais, kai 2 pasaulio valstybės buvo gerokai galingesnės už kitas ir varžėsi dėl viršenybės. Tai valstybė, kuri turi ir galimybių, ir interesą dalyvauti sprendžiant kiekvieną tarptautinę problemą bet kurioje pasaulio dalyje. Pasibaigus Šaltajam karui ir suirus Sovietų Sąjungai, pasaulyje liko viena supergalybė – JAV. Dėl to atsirado pagrindas svarstymams apie vienpolę pasaulio sistemą, imperiją ir jos galimybes išlikti ilgesnį laiką. Kaip rodo Kinijos atvejis, net santykinai neišsivysčiusi supergalybė gali skirti pakankamai išteklių gynybai ir pasiekti veiksmingas lygiąsias tarp jos ir kitų supergalybių. atitikmenys: angl. superpower
